Classic BMW Parts
For most cars, depreciation starts from the moment they're driven off the showroom
floor and continues downward spiral until the thing is worth next to nothing. But
when that phenomenon applies to a quality, well-built cars like the Classic BMW's,
there's always the chance that the 15-year-old (or more) end product will be a
legend even for a second hand buy.
The BMW 328 of the 1930's featured a compact two-seater with leather straps across
the hood came to dominate the racing scene in Germany and around the world in
the second half of the thirties. The bodywork of the 328 had remarkably clean
and sleek styling for its time. The integrated headlamps set a trend, which was
to survive well into the fifties. The handful of 328 models with streamlined aluminum
bodies even became a styling model for an entire generation of sports cars in
the postwar era, including the Jaguar XK series. The elegantly cowled back wheels,
long hood and distinctive dashboard made the 328 an instant hit with sport scar
enthusiasts of the '30s.The BMW 328 is nominated as "Car of the Century" by a
worldwide panel of automotive journalists.

The design model for the new Z8, the BMW 507 had its debut at the 1955 Frankfurt
Motor Show. The beautiful light alloy bodywork was attached to a strong frame,
and the engine was the then new aluminum 160 hp V8.The New Class BMW of the 1960's
became the new breed of stylish, sporty automobiles, setting many BMW trends in
motion. A classic in design, the New Class engine was a high-revving 4-cylinder,
single overhead cam power plant with an all-aluminum cylinder head. The 1.5-liter
engine featured: a single, chain-driven overhead camshaft, an 8-port aluminum
cylinder head, 5 bearing crankshaft, over-square cylinder dimensions and optimum
lengths for inlet and exhaust manifold tubes.

Compared to the Mercedes-Benz E-Class that was the BMW's main competition at
the time, the BMW E34 B5 series was a sportier looking in every aspect. It was
one of the models that helped make BMW the legendary, dynamic brand it is today.
In the 70's BMW introduced the New Sixes, BMW's first luxury, performance sedans,
featuring gutsy 6-cylinder engines, excellent road handling and sleek, Italian
styling. A six-cylinder engine was introduced to power the New Sixes. They proved
to be as successful on the racetrack as they did on the road.
