Classic Chevy Suburban Parts

The first Chevy Suburban debuted way back 1936. It was based on a commercial panel truck though it had a large passenger compartment rather than having a huge windowless cargo area. It was basically truck-based station wagon with two doors and three rows of seats that can accommodate eight passengers. The first Suburban was powered by an inline six cylinder engine producing 90 horses under its hood.

By 1941, the year when some considered that those vehicles released during this year as classic, brought the bullet-shaped headlights sweeping off the fenders. By this time, both Chrysler and GMC's Suburban looked the same. The war broke in that year and like other car manufacturers, Chrysler wasn't able to produced civilian cars from 1943-45. In 1946, the Suburban was rebuilt but looked the same with the '42 model.

The classic 1947 Suburban was redesigned and restyled. It had a wider grille and passenger compartment. The concept continued through 1953. That same year, the Hydra-Matic automatic transmission was included to GMC's Suburban engine that produced up to an even 100 horsepower. By 1954, the Suburban added one-piece curved windshield from the previous two-piece unit) and a grille with a single horizontal bar split vertically in the center. It was bigger and stronger.

The V8 engine was installed to the Suburban in the year 1955 (the Suburban was also called the Second Series). A wrap-around windshield, hooded headlights and a grille that resembled a big mouth (with a grid insert) were the styling highlights. The Chvy's Suburban now powered at 180hp. After a year, it increased up to 205ph in a small-block V8. After a year, the Chevy Sub entered the four-wheel world. 1958 brought a refurbished body featuring dual headlights and some more body-side sculpting to the front fenders, all of which carried over through the next year. A lower grille and sleeker body featured the 1960's classic Suburban.

Better features and stylish body curves gave the classic Chevy Suburban good image in the late 60s up to the early 70s. New interior and stronger engine better packaged the vehicle. As years gone by, the improvement of the classic Suburban continued. Today, it is considered as the longest truck nameplate in history. The Suburban is still produced with stronger and better features. With the classic Chevy Suburban parts, the still running classic suburban continues to run is some street and off-roads. These are the marked that brought the classic Suburban performing up to this date.
